[Afk. jaap, f. proper name Jacob, a typical ‘country’ name. DSAE claims that ‘no examples of the word in use by non-South Africans have been found’, but cf. yarpie n., common in Aus., albeit transliterated]

1. an Afrikaner; also attrib.
