dutchie n.1

[ety. unknown but note the Musical Youth song ‘Pass the Dutchie’ (see cit. 1982 in sense 1) was a cover of The Mighty Diamonds’ song titled ‘Pass the Kouchie’ (see cutchie n.1 ), where kouchie means a marijuana pipe, but the name was changed to reference the more innocent cooking pot of sense 1; however, the popularity of the song meant that dutchie itself then became used to mean a marijuana pipe again in sense 2]
