1996		Eble Sl. and Sociability 47: Multiple etymology may likewise be at work in shaping the form and meaning of zod ‘a person who is stupid or not up on the latest’. Zod rhymes with odd and with quad, which is geometrically related to square, which is a well-established slang term that means basically the same thing as zod. But zod could also be a clipping of Izod, the brand of shirts at the height of college fashion a decade ago but now out of style.
