Taunton Courier 29 Apr. 10/3: The word ‘skimished’ was used by Romany people [...] I imagine the tramp class derive it from the old gypsy tongue. I have heard it used as a noun:- skimish, intoxicating drink, and ‘skimisher,’ a drinker [and] as a verb:- to go ‘skimishing’ and being ‘skimished’.
