Green’s Dictionary of Slang

Cohentingent n.

[Cohen n.+ SE contingent]

(Aus.) an anti-Semitic slur, aimed at the alleged propensity of Jews to avoid enlisting in the Boer war, while encouraging others to join up; thus cohentingenter.

[Aus]Bulletin (Sydney) 21 Dec. 13/4: ‘Cohentingent’ certainly wasn’t invented to mark the number of Jews who went to the war. It was invented to mark the number of Jews who stayed away from the war and egged other people to go.
[Aus]Bulletin (Sydney) 27 Dec. 11/2: A couple of years ago, when the military microbe pervaded Australia, a returned cohentingenter taking his seat in a theatre was a sight for the gods.
[Aus]Bulletin (Sydney) 19 Oct. 10/3: Grandmother, the story goes, followed at a sling trot, but aunt dodged round the town clock and the cohentingenters’ monument [...] at such a pace that granny had to give up the chase.
