[Fr. chabins, sheep bred in Bery, with thick, long hair; such sheep were once seen as a sheep/goat cross, and the term, exported to Dominica, was used as a synon. for ‘half-breed’]

(W.I.) a person of mixed African/European descent; such people have pale brown skin, coarse reddish hair and, sometimes, freckles and greyish eyes.
