Green’s Dictionary of Slang

bid-dims n.

[onomat. bid-dim, the sound of a rifle shot; such trousers supposedly resemble a rifle barrel]

(W.I.) a young man’s trousers that are too short and narrow.

[WI]F. Collymore Notes for Gloss. of Barbadian Dial. 18: Those who preferred to continue wearing the tight-fitting, narrow-hemmed trousers were frequently subjected to ridicule; the trousers were said to resemble gun-barrels or gunmou(t)hs, and street urchins would exclaim ‘buddung’ or ‘biddim’ derisively.
